KIDS IN TECH

Building the next generation of computer programmers and engineers by inspiring tech innovation in Arizona.

About Us

We are an after school club at Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona that strives to educate younger or less experienced students in the principles of programming and engineering via weekly in-person workshops hosted by club members at different elementary schools in Arizona. This program started in 2022 and we are still designing and hosting workshops today across several different schools in the state.

How Do We Give Back to our Community?

Our club money is used for improving current technology at the schools and providing students with new educational tools. These donations are meant to inspire young students to pursue engineering.

Skills We Teach

Workshops that make an Impact

Our team is dedicated to providing younger students with 100% free, hand-ons engineering experiences.

2022-Present

Weinberg Elementary

Every Wednesday for two months, high schoolers from Perry High School taught an airplane building course. At the end of the program, students even got to fly their contraptions!

Additionally, we are working on starting a First Lego League team at Weinberg.

2023-Present

Ryan Elementary

Programming is essential for younger learners interested in technology which is why we are currently teaching block coding at Ryan Elementary. Our lessons guide students through the programming of multiple Code.org apps.

Girls in Tech

Our Tech Club officers are currently collaborating with the Girls in Tech Phoenix chapter to bring a girls in tech workshop to a few different Arizona elementary schools.

"Every student deserves the opportunity to learn computer programming. Coding can unlock creativity and open doors for an entire generation of American students. We need more coders -- not just in the tech industry, but in every industry."
